We
join two tents together for our team of four, with a common entrance
in the middle. Our guide cooks in the back vestibule, then food is
passed through the middle section. It is too cold to eat outside,
and we must wear hats and gloves inside the tent. |

“Well,
it was an eventful night in the tent last night. The temps
were bitter cold outside and the wind was howling. The good
news is, I am well hydrated, which will help me acclimatize
better. The bad news came when I awoke during the night and
had to use my funnel and pee bottle inside the tent. All
was well, until I realized that my very full bladder made
for a very full pee bottle. The “ick” factor came into
play, as I realized I had just left a puddle on my cozy
sleeping bag liner. I pulled out the liner, climbed back in
my sleeping bag, and shivered all night long. In cases like
these, I can either choose to get upset, or I can just deal
with it and have a good laugh later. This morning, as I am
emptying my bottle of yellow slush, I am choosing to laugh
about it.”
